Teen Patti is the South Asian cousin of poker, played with three cards and a lot of table talk. In a casino lobby the format usually shrinks to a quick two-hand contest, a lot like Dragon Tiger with a richer ranking. Hand rankings, best to worst
A trail, also called a set, is three cards of the same rank, and it is the top hand. A pure sequence is three consecutive cards of one suit. A sequence is three consecutive cards of mixed suits. A colour is three cards of the same suit that are not in sequence. A pair has two cards of the same rank. A high card is everything else.

How live tables differ
In a friendly game, players bet blind or seen and bluff each other. A casino table is usually simpler. Two hands, often called A and B, are dealt, and you bet on which will be stronger, or on side outcomes such as a pair or better. There is rarely any bluffing, which makes it quick to learn.

Rounds are short, which suits quick breaks, but a short round is also a short route to spending. Decide a stake and a round limit up front. If you win, resist the urge to scale up bets in the same session. If you lose, do not chase the next hand with a larger stake.
